I am so delighted to report to you that District 22
achieved Distinguished District for the 5th year in a

LT Gov Educ. & Training, Diana Kovac, DTM
Div T Governor, Jason Schulz, ATM-S
Div A Governor, Mike Tuttle, CTM
Div L Governor, Chris Woolway, ATMB,CL
Div K Governor, Larry Wilson, ATM-B, AL
Div S Governor, Annette Rude, ATMB This great achievement reflects very well on the District Leadership team and on all of you in District 22, your clubs and your fellow members. Because District 22 has now achieved Distinguished for FIVE YEARS IN A ROW, we will be awarded the Excellence in Leadership Award in Washington DC at the International Convention. I hope at least 22 of you will join me on stage at the Hall of Fame Awards! |

We currently have 10 new clubs in process of
forming. We will need two sponsors and two mentors
for each one. As of now, we still have many of
these slots empty and need volunteers. This will
fulfill one of the requirements for Advanced Leader.
Usually, these positions are hard to get because
there are so few of them. Take advantage of the
abundance. Contact either Diana or myself.

A couple of weeks ago I made my debut as
Toastmaster. Our first speaker had his flip chart set
up and ready to go when I walked in. The clock
struck 7; our president said a few words then invited
me to come up. On the way - I tripped over the legs
of the easel, dropping the flipchart and creating a
gale in the small room. Everyone’s carefully arranged
ballots went flying out of their neat piles. And, for
just a moment, the room was like being inside a snow
globe. I can’t believe I did that and I’m still looking
forward to the next meeting.
Every Toastmaster’s meeting I’ve attended has taken me outside of my comfort zone. Lately, though, I have started to enjoy the risks. Now I’m also starting to realize that the more I fall over the flipchart the more gracefully I’ll do it next time. |

Since I joined Toastmasters in January 2006,
Toastmasters has helped me over come some of the
fears of speaking before large groups. I took a step
out of my comfort zone by addressing my city
council. I used the lesson of persuasion and
accomplished the goal of getting them to take
action. I have personally witnessed the benefits of
Toastmasters. I’ll continue my Toastmasters training
and increase the size of my comfort.

Advanced Toastmasters Bronze / Competent
Leader
Charter Member of AgMasters Club 518 Former member & past President of Toastmasters Unlimited Club 1379 Monday, August 7, 2006 was truly a sad day for USDA co-workers, friends, and Toastmasters. After arriving for work Terry collapsed, was taken to the hospital where she passed away from a heart attack at 52 years of age. She was a Charter Members of AgMasters Club forming in 1997. She also played a major role in revitalizing the Toastmasters Unlimited Club, actually serving a term as President. She was always so willing to help wherever and whenever she could. She genuinely cared for others and her radiant smile, which lit up everyone around her, will be truly missed. She loved to compete and won contests at the club and Area level moving forward to the Division level. If you didn’t hear her personal story of the Streak, you missed a great humorous speech. The photo to the left is from one of those contests; her outfit was part of her speech. Remember, everyday is a gift, that’s why they call it the present. |
