Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
by Diana Kovac, District Governor   A Wonderful Holiday Season to You All! snowflake

Soon our Toastmasters year will be half over, can you believe it? Congratulations to those of you who have reached a toastmasters goal and are looking ahead to the next educational level. Congratulations also to those who have set goals and continue to work diligently toward achieving them. If you’re not sure what your next educational goal should be, check with your Vice President of Education or me. You can reach me at djkovac@everstkc.net. December is the perfect month to finish strong and end the year with a bang!

I hope 2006 has been a wonderful year for you, a year filled with lots of fun, hard work, and great accomplishments. Earning educational awards doesn’t come easy, but reaching a new educational or leadership level is a wonderfully rewarding experience.

As we approach the end of 2006, I want to thank each and every member, club and district officer for all you do in Toastmasters. You made a decision to work on self-improvement in the areas of communication and leadership and you’ve followed through with that commitment. Toastmasters has so much to offer every individual and you have made the effort to take advantage of the opportunities. Not only are you working on your personal self- improvement goals but you are helping others in their journey to achieve these goals.

You are truly changing the world ~You are making a difference!

Wishing you, your family and loved ones a
Merry Christmas
and a
Wonderfully Happy Holiday Season!!

Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) is for everyone.
by Cyndra Melville, DTM
Yes, it is often referred to as Officer’s Training and your club gets a Distinguished Club Program point for having four or more club officers at the training, however, all members would benefit from attending this training. You can attend training for an office that you are considering taking in the future. There are several training sessions for everyone in the afternoon including judges training and membership building. Meet your District Officers and get to know them. AND it’s an incredible bargain! When your club pre-pays, you can go FREE. If you want to attend the working lunch, it’s only $6 Where else can you get a deal like this?!
How Good Is Good Enough?
by Mike Tuttle, Lt. Governor Education and Training
The next upcoming event for Toastmasters, apart from Christmas of course, is mid year training or TLI. January is the month for TLI’s to happen and further announcements will be coming soon.

The schedule for TLI is a follows: January 13 Wichita, January 20 Division T city to be announced soon, January 22 Liberty, January 27 Overland Park Black and Veach building.

Why do we need training so soon, we just had it? You might ask. Isn’t that good enough? Well in reality that just was six months ago for most of you. Additionally, we find that as officers move through the year, new or un- thought of questions arise and a TLI is an excellent way to address them. Also, at least four officers per club need to attend training twice a year to earn one of the DCP points, or 20% of the distinguished club requirements.

So the best answer to that isn’t that good enough question, might be to recall the old saw taught to me by an extraordinary toastmaster; good, better, best never let it rest until your good is better and your better is best. See you all at TLI.

If you aren’t familiar with Darren LaCroix, please visit Darren’s website for his impressive bio www.humor411.com/darren/. From the website, you will find this introduction:

In 2001, Darren LaCroix, The World Champion of Public Speaking, outspoke 25,000 contestants from 14 countries to win that title. Since that victory, Darren has traveled the world demystifying the process of creating a powerful speech. He has roused audiences in faraway places like Oman, Malaysia, and Taiwan with his inspirational journey from first-rate chump to first- class champ, proving anything is possible if you are willing to work for it.

Darren may have been "born without a funny bone in my body," but he possessed the desire to learn and the willingness to fail necessary to achieve his dream. The self- proclaimed "student of comedy" is living proof that humor is a skill that can be learned.

Give yourself the gift of a great lunch, a great speaker, and the opportunity to be with your fellow Toastmasters. Contact the Central Exchange TODAY!

There will be a 90 minute evening presentation titled "Champion Ed Live." The session will be open to all Toastmasters and the general public. Details to follow.

Toastmasters Leadership Institute 2007
by Loris Harger   District 22 Advanced Leadership and Club Officer Training

Club officers and any interested member should plan to attend club officer training at the Toastmasters Leadership Institute.

January 13, Saturday – Wichita, KS

January 22, Monday night Club Officer Training – Liberty, MO 5:30-9 p.m.

January 27, Saturday Black & Veatch, 11401 Lamar, Overland Park, KS, NORTH DOOR! 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Why should you attend?

Advanced Training – Share challenges, successes, goals.
For those of you who have been an officer for six months now, what are your challenges, what are your successes? This is a great time to share those with other officers. You can share and learn from others who hold the same office. With the help of the other officers and your session leader, you will begin the next six months feeling even more confident and motivated.

New Officers gain shared knowledge.
For new officers, you’ll get the benefit of learning from the session leader and those who have already been in the office for six months. You’ll share their experiences and ideas. You’ll start your new year as a club officer off on the right tract.

Training will help YOU be the BEST you can be.
There will be educational sessions that will help you and your club have more productive, positive and fun meetings. These sessions will encourage everyone to get the most out of their Toastmasters experience.
