Spring Conference
by Diana Kovac, District Governor   District Council Meeting Proxies spring
It’s that time of year again. Spring! And with spring comes the District 22 Spring Conference. Mark your calendars now for April 13 & 14th. There will be lots of fun along with inspiring and educational events that you won’t want to miss!

Club Presidents and Vice Presidents of Education, you each get a vote at the District Council meeting. As leaders of your clubs, you are their representatives at the District Council meeting. Your vote is critical for the District to conduct business and to give your club the opportunity to be a part of the decision making process. Come to the conference, sign in at the credentials desk and attend the District Council meeting on Saturday the 14th to cast your vote!

Club Presidents and Vice Presidents of Education, if for some unforeseen reason both of you will not be able to attend the council meeting please sign the District 22 Proxy Form and send it with a member who will be attending. A copy of the proxy will be emailed to club presidents and posted on the D22 website at www.toastmasters22.org.

All members are invited and encouraged to attend the District Council Meeting held at the conference on April 14th.

If you have any questions please contact me at djkovac@everestkc.net or 913 961 0492.

Fulfill Your Duty—Attend the Spring Conference
by Mike Tuttle
To paraphrase a great founding father, “Now is the time for all good toastmasters to come to the aid of their district.” That means hold those contests if you haven't already and prepare to come to the Spring Conference on Friday the 13th (scary isn't it) and more importantly Saturday the 14th of April.

Why, you may ask, is Saturday so important? Because that is when we elect officers for next year and all of you have an interest in being there for that process. For those of you who have voting rights, you will decide who will be on YOUR leadership team.

Mark your calendars now for all competitions that still remain and do your best to attend. I have always said that as a toastmaster I can think of nothing worse than to work hard on a speech, practice it at length, then have no audience to give it to.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Spring Conference.

Register now at www.district22conference.com/spring_2007.htm.

Speaking of Contests
by Cyndra Melville, DTM
There is just a little more time left in the Talk-Up Toastmasters contest. From Feb 1 – March 31, add five new or reinstated members. Applications must list a “join date” between these dates and be received by World Headquarters by March 31.

This is a great time for a membership contest in your club. It can be as simple as a “Bring a Guest” meeting or a complex one with points.

Say Yes to Your Leadership Opportunity
by Martha Hoffman
Toastmaster’s mission focuses on public speaking. Additionally, Toastmasters develops leaders. If you are interested in using Toastmasters to further your leadership skills, you may be leaning toward a leadership opportunity with your club. The administration of the club takes organization. It takes YOU to make it work.

The District is building its leadership team for the next Toastmasters year, starting July 1. Your club has the same parameters. The club has to elect new officers by the end of June. Turning over the roles can be a great opportunity to build on the strengths of the current administration. When you say yes, you open doors to personal and leadership growth in yourself.

Regional and International Proxies
by Diana Kovac
In March, Club Presidents will receive a large BLUE envelope containing TWO proxies in the mail -- one for the Regional Conference and the other for the International Convention. They will be sent to the President on record. If you do not receive the mailing, please contact the past President to see if they received it. If you are not planning on attending the Regional or International conferences, BOTH should be signed upon receipt and mailed to me. They should be pre-addressed. Our District will need the proxies in order to have votes at the Regional.
