Take Aim for 20 Members and Beyond
Is club life easier with 20 members than with 10? You
bet. Ask the members of Articulators Club who grew
their membership from 10 to 20 this last year.
Every club that has cancelled meetings, every club that has fewer members than last year, every club with less than 20 members -- it's time to take the Charter Challenge again, to grow membership to 20 members and beyond. And, you clubs with more than 20 members, you can play, too. You have to do the work, but District 22 offers this incentive:
Any size club can play, even those with 20 members or more. We will begin awarding gold stars during the banner parade at our spring conference, April 26, 2008. Gold stars will be a lot of fun, but the real reward will be the energy and fun that comes with having lots of members in your club: every meeting role filled, lots of different voices, all seven officers roles filled - and lots of laughter! How can you increase membership in your club? Figuring that out is half the fun of being a Toastmaster. Ask people at officer training, ask your Area Governor, read the manuals, visit other clubs, but most of all communicate and collaborate with each other. Begin now. Embrace the Charter Challenge, grow your club membership and have a gold star or two pinned to your banner next spring. |

This award will be given to all clubs that earn 5 DCP
(Distinguished Club Program) points or more by
December 31, 2007 and have them appear on the
Toastmaster International reports.
How can you help your club earn this? Complete your Competent Communicator (CC); Advanced Communicator (ACB, ACS, or ACG); Leadership (CL, ALB, ALS or DTM) Awards. Sponsor a new member or two. Pay your dues on time. If you are a club officer, attend Club Officer Training. These are all goals that you want to accomplish this year anyway. Just set you accomplishment date prior to the end of December. The club will be presented with a ribbon for their banner at the TLI in January. Additionally, each member who earned an educational award or sponsored a member to help the club earn the award, will be presented with a special button. All of you Goal Getters out there, revive up your engines. Go! |

| Randy Neill, ACG CL, Division A Governor |
I recently visited a club that meets weekly. Their
members gave manual speeches, they welcomed
guests, and their club was involved in area and
division activities. But something was missing. I soon
realized what it was. The club did not have a
Toastmaster's Banner. I asked the president why that
was and he simply replied that it did seem all that
important to have one.
Consider this, we district officers want to recognize club accomplishments and we also desire that each club continues to promote its pride and participation in Toastmaster's International. When your club achieves outstanding accomplishments, your banner is an excellent place to display award ribbons. Guests see your banner as a club of achievement and often wish to be a part of our fine organization. In addition, your club can proudly march among the Parade of Banners at all the Toastmaster International events. We want to put a ribbon on your banner. As the saying goes "Seeing is believing!" Banners are available through the world headquarters' Store visit online or call Toastmaster's International |
