Our Fall Conference was an Enthusiastic Success
By Cyndra Melville, DTM
District 22 Governor
Everything about the conference was terrific! The hotel was very nice and the personnel were very accommodating. The food was very good. Our keynote speakers were fascinating. Our educational speakers were wonderful with lots of good ideas. Both contests were very close. The contestants were all winners. It's just that we had to pick which ones to give awards to. The networking and camaraderie between Toastmasters is always my favorite part and it was there in full force due in part to the Hospitality Room and all who manned it. Putting on a conference is a mind boggling amount of work. A big THANK YOU to all who helped. Mark your calendar now for our 2009 Spring Conference April 17-18. Toastmasters International President, Jana Barnhill will be here so it will be extra special. You won't want to miss it.

Goal Get'em!
By Annette Rude, DTM
Lt. Governor Education and Training
Are you a Goal Getter? Will your club be "Distinguished by December"? Then, plan to attend the general session of Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) and receive your Goal Getter ribbon.
There is still time to become a Goal Getter - through December 31. For the individual Goal Getter ribbon, submit your Toastmasters educational award before January. Help your club earn five Distinguished Club Plan points for your club to be recognized with a special club Goal Getter ribbon. Unofficially, we call it "Distinguished by December"
More! More!! More!!!
More speeches! Complete more awards in your club by filling ALL speaking slots in every meeting - at least one speech for every half hour that you meet. Speaking slots are like time: use them or lose them. If you have unused speaking slots in your meetings, please speak up in your business meeting and say "We need to give more speeches." Then lead by example.
More by December! Avoid the rush in June, complete yours now. Only 1/3 of educational awards are submitted in the first six months of the Toastmaster year, from July through December.
More Toastmasters! In District 22, only one in three Toastmasters has completed any educational program. Let's aim for half of all members to have completed their Competent Communicator!
Individual Goal Getters
So far this Toastmasters year, District 22 Toastmasters have completed the following:
55 Competent Communication (CC) programs
30 Advanced (ACB ACS ACG) Communication
26 Competent Leaders (CL)
12 Advanced Leaders (ALB ALS)
3 Distinguished Toastmasters(DTM) awards
These awards are the heart of the Toastmasters educational program. The programs are described in the back of your manuals.
· Our District 22 goals are 250 CCs and 84 AC's - earned one award at a time.
· Our minimum Distinguished goals established by Toastmasters International are 145 CC's and 41 AC's. Congratulate those you know who have earned an award this year. You can find out exactly who has earned these awards at Reports. If you are close to completing a program, then consider being a Goal Getter. Submit it by December 31, attend TLI and be recognized for your achievement.

You can find out how many DCP points your club has earned at www.toastmasters.org/members. Click on one of the tabs and then District Officer Reports: Club Officer - Club Officer Reports District Officer - District Officer Reports Submit your educational achievement by December 31 to help your club earn five Distinguished Club points and be recognized with a special club Goal Getter ribbon - regardless of your club's membership count.
