The Division within the District
Toastmasters Districts are divided into Divisions. Divisions are divided into Areas.
Each Division has a Division Governor. The Division Governor is responsible for
assuring that the Area Governors can do their duties. Each Area Governor should be
striving to have a Distinguished Area. Enough Distinguised Areas means that the
Division is a Distinguished Division. Distinguished Divisions helps a District become
a Distinguished District.
Club Officer Training: Division Governors are normally responsible for scheduling and running the Club Officer
Make Up Training (MUT). These training sessions are supplements to the semi-annual training
sessions held by the District.
Contests: Divisions have semi-annual contests. The contestants are the winners of the
Area contests. The winners of the Division contest compete in the District contests.
Division Council: A Division Governor should have a quarterly Division Council meeting. The Division Council
members are the Area Governors, the Assistant Area Governors, and the Division Governor.
These meetings have two main focus points. One is finding ways to help the Division clubs
meet their needs. The other is determining what is needed to allow the Areas to be distinguished.
